Lighting Benchmark Stuff

What I had for first pass lighting critique, so of course, subject to many changes in the next 6 weeks:

Lighting and Texturing!!!

We are lighting and texturing our thesis' during this semester!

I'm working on the bathroom now, the top is the paintover idea (aka what I want to achieve) I have and the bottom is the render I have as of now (aka yucky). However, the render will improve as I make my tweaks:

The weird glowing teeth above the mirror are stand-in lights. Everyone seems to get confused by them, but they will be replaced!

Here are some quick paintovers (and some renders at the bottom) I did to get an idea of what sort of lighting I wanted to accomplish, but I think I'll tone down the colors a bit when I finish the real thing:

Thesis Takeover

Yep, Thesis....(btw he should have wings)


I haven't really been doing much lately besides 1st pass animation on my thesis...so...not many posts. I was messing around with this old painting trying to block out the rest of it.


and I drew this bird...but that's about it.
Also messing with colors for website themes and whatnot.

Quick Mabel Animation

Part of my Blendtest, which we do primarily to test our blendshapes and character's facial expressions. It's something pretty short, quick and simple. Her hands/arms have barely any animation (I've been putting too much time into my thesis layout shots to work too much on these animations) now so I may go back and fix that later. I'm also going to fix the rig so her swirly hairs have some drag.

Chiustream stuff

Here are some Chiustream drawings of mine. Basically, for the Chiustream, we have a bit under an hour to draw/paint a character based on a theme we are given.

He is my temporary header image for now :) I may try to paint him later. (Cute/Furry Theme)

Been working more on my fat monster. (Fat/Drooling Theme)

Stuff

Mabel can move....HORRIBLY! (her hands are especially weird right now) I will paint her weights soon, but at least the back controllers for the rig are decently versatile. People have mixed feeling about the skirt frill though (besides the fact that its weirdly weighted now).

I did some drawings in order to figure out how I wanted Mabel to stand, her body
was kind of a boring shape before...luckily the rig works to make her bendy.

TEXTURES!

Preliminary textures subject to change. I just got critted on these guys so they will be changed, but I'm getting closer to a final look, I hope.

Mabel still needs some clothing trim and hopefully a bit more of an interesting front view.

That, and she has some lumpiness going on :( ...also I think I'm going to change her shoes.

Frank! Thesis Work...

Hey! Okay so I've been working a bit on my thesis over the summer. This is one of my main characters Frank in a couple of styles....the one on the right was an old drawing while the left is newer...but you can get the gist from the drawings....:
Here's the model so far....he's not near done, he'll have feet, proper ears and other things eventually (and those splits in his body aren't supposed to be there haha) but he's getting there. I didn't do it in ZBrush but stuck it in there to take some (non-lambert) screengrabs...I like the sculpy shader in there.

Since its summer I hope to actually produce more stuff to put up here. For now here are a few things:

More Stuff. Errr..... A bunch of random animal/char sketches made while sitting in my art history class, and then....Random stuff from DFA and...Yep. I should try to update this and get it up and running...I'm not a big blogging person. :(
